Dear Friends,
Jess and I opened Before & After with a simple hope: to create a place where neighbors could gather, friendships could flourish, and everyone was welcome.
For almost 11 years, you made that dream a reality by stopping by for a latte and sticking around for a conversation. I am deeply grateful for your support, your kindness, and the trust you placed in us. Serving you and our community from this little stretch of Sperryville’s Main Street has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.
With that said, it is time for me to tackle some new adventures and allow Before & After to grow with new leadership. I have asked Cheri and Martin Woodard to list 31 Main and the cafe for sale. My hope is that this isn’t the end of an era, but the start of an exciting new chapter for both Before & After and for me.
There are far too many folks to thank for the success of this little coffee shop and cafe. I am thankful for those who believed in our dream, for my neighbors who supported us, and even for those cranky old guys in the corner who entertained everyone who walked through our doors.
I want to express a special thank you to my neighbors and friends, Cheri and Martin Woodard. From sausage quiches in the morning to green teas in the afternoon, they have supported the cafe and me at every turn with their generosity, wisdom, encouragement, and friendship. I have often said that I simply followed in their footsteps as they showed me the path to serve our community.
I am eager to discover new ways to serve Sperryville and Rappahannock in the years to come. For now, thank you for making Before & After more than just a coffee shop. You made it Rappahannock’s living room with friendships and memories to last a lifetime.
I look forward to seeing you soon at the cafe, but this time from the same side of the counter.
