Hi everyone,

It is with much sadness that we're announcing that Beatrice is going on hiatus through the remainder of 2025.

We will announce our plans for 2026 as the new year approaches.

Tracie has transitioned to a new career as a high school biology teacher (!) and she'd like to take the fall to work on her lessons and licensure.

Here are some wonderful Beatrice statistics! In just under 5 years, we have sold 5,528 loaves of bread, 2,101 boxes of cookies (that's over 13K cookies), and made 3,829 deliveries! And all out of our own home!

The bakery was an unexpected but dearly needed blessing for us as we made our way through the pandemic, and we hope we share that experience with our many customers here in South Hadley and beyond.

Beatrice has been such a joy for us, a steady and important (and ever-yummy) connection with our local community. We are so grateful to all of our customers.

Thank you, and we look forward to reconnecting in 2026.

A Tale of Two Breads...

These are two of today's Cranberry, Toasted Walnut, and Orange Zest loves. They weigh the same.

The little peanut on the right? Was put in the very back of the top shelf of the fridge overnight. It was frozen when I took it out this morning.

The rest of the loaves look like the one on the left, down to the one. They're gorgeous. But, to the trained eye? They were dangerously close to overproofing (i.e.,collapsing in on themselves). Within an hour, possibly minutes.

And peanut is the probable cause - it was probably blocking some air circulation in the fridge.

All that to say: phew! We were about an hour from having to deliver doorstops!

And cheers to whomever gets peanut!

This is the lamination step for our chocolate loaves, when we layer the plain dough, the chocolate dough, and then the goodies.

In this case, the goodies are chocolate chips, toasted hazelnuts, and sweet-wine-reconstituted cherries.

And, I tell ya, it smells MAGNIFICENT.

Like... high quality peanut butter and jelly!
