After 12 years in business and 8 years on Highland Ave, this chapter of 7ate9 is coming to a close.
The time is right for me to close up our storefront. This has been a very emotional decision to make. I remain deeply passionate about the world of food, its history, its story, the way we can connect and communicate through food. However, the past few years have turned this industry on its head and taken its toll.
The last few years have been hard for us all, and the food industry, like many others, is still reeling from the effects of increased costs, and severe employment shortages. As a small business owner that has been running the bakery on my own, it's been brutal to navigate. I have spoken with many other small business owners in the same situation, and we are all going through a very real challenge.
I will not say that this is the end of 7ate9 or our cheesecakes. Perhaps you'll see me at pop-ups, on the wholesale scene, opening a food-centric bookstore, starting a podcast, or consulting on small business development, or on how to make the world's best cheesecake. I am looking for new challenges, so if you are interested in collaborating on a project, reach out to me at the shop or on LinkedIn.
We will be open Friday-Sunday until we have sold all of our inventory, or until the end of March... whichever comes first. We are no longer taking pre-orders orders. It’s first come, first serve, until the last served.
For the past 12 years... Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
It will be missed.
