Lori's Specialty Cakes Well versed in the art of the baked goods, have been making specialty cakes for 6 years and never had any complaints! OMG, what was I thinking!

It all started when my son, Jackson, was about to turn 3. I wanted something special for his birthday cake. I went to a couple of bakeries and asked people, and basically I couldn't afford to pay what they were asking. I was so disappointed but I still did not want to get the standard cake from a grocery store bakery. I decided that I would make the cake myself! I'd never even baked a cake before

that didn't come from a box and I hadn't made many of those either. I had tried to make chocolate chip cookies once that turned out like mini cakes but that was about it. I watched a lot of videos and read recipes and learned about techniques. It finally came to the day to make his cake and I had a great plan. I thought my plan was flawless, it was not. Things didn't go as I had planned. There were a lot of mistakes and many more cuss words but at last I had something that I thought I could serve as his cake. I thought the cake was a disaster but everyone loved it! From that point on, I was hooked. I loved trying to do new things, learn new skills, take on different themes. I just kept doing cakes and cupcakes while teaching myself the techniques that professionals use. I still love creating in the kitchen and, sometimes, cuss words are still needed. :)
