It's the first day of school in the Democratic Republic of the Congo! We are so proud and grateful to send all of our children to private, Christian schools so that they receive the best possible education.

But this year is another difficult one as the Congo continues to face dire Ebola and Cholera epidemics. Please send your thoughts and prayers to our children today as they embark on new school year. 💟

Please join us in praying for the people of the Democratic Republic of the Congo as the Ebola outbreak continues to spread.

More than 4,500 cases and 2,100 deaths have now been reported, with six provinces affected. This is the fastest-growing Ebola outbreak on record, and health officials warn that controlling it may take many months.

Please pray for:

• Protection for the children and caregivers at Theresa’s House
• Healing and comfort for affected families
• Strength, safety and adequate resources for healthcare workers
• Wisdom for those working to contain the outbreak
• Peace and stability throughout the region

Theresa’s House needs an additional $1,000 each month to provide vital Ebola-prevention measures and help protect the children and caregivers in our home. Please pray that God will move people to give and faithfully supply this urgent need. If you feel led to help, your gift—of any size—will make a meaningful difference.

We remain deeply grateful for your prayers and continued support for the children and communities of the DRC.

Get to know our Executive Director, Dr. Theresa Kashale!

THERESA'S STORY

Theresa Kashale could never have planned for the life she would come to lead in Sioux Falls, SD. Her journey began in 1985, when she left her country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, for fear of her life.

After leaving the Congo, Theresa, her husband, and their oldest child moved to a neighboring country, Burundi. In September 1993, the presidents of Burundi and Rwanda were killed and civil war began. Massacres followed and no one was safe, not even children or the elderly. Theresa lived in constant fear that she and her family would be next.

Today, she is able to talk about her experiences and how they have shaped her. It has taken time, but God has healed Theresa from the trauma she experienced on her home continent. Even as God has brought Theresa to her new home in Sioux Falls, and her job as a teacher with the Sioux Falls School District, He has also brought her heart back to her birthplace, the Democratic Republic of the Congo. ❤️

Dr. Kashale is available for speaking engagements! Please reach out to us via Facebook Messenger or at 605-501-2739 to request her to speak to your group.

Imagine how much water you use in a day: showering, cooking, cleaning, drinking, doing laundry. Now multiply that by the more than 30 children and adults residing at Theresa’s House. Even a few days without water causes a severe disruption to daily life.

That is why we are raising money to build a potable water reservoir on the Theresa's House compound. Thanks to generous donor, we now have a $10,000 matching goal and we need your help to complete it. We will be collecting pennies at LifeChange Church and you may also donate online. The need is great, but even small actions can have a ripple effect.

Water sustains life. And without it, everything becomes harder. When there is a water outage in the city of Kinshasa, the children of Theresa's House must walk through the city with jugs to purchase just enough water to attend to the bare necessities.

We are on our way to completing our $10,000 matching goal to build a potable water reservoir on the Theresa’s House compound. This reservoir will provide a clean, reliable source of drinking water for generations to come.

If you are interested in helping, you can donate online or bring your pennies to LifeChange Church. Even a small amount can make a difference and all donations will go toward meeting our $10,000 matching goal

This is what happens when a pipe bursts in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo. The city’s infrastructure was not designed for a population of nearly 18 million and, when major pipes break, entire neighborhoods lose access to water.

Due to ongoing infrastructure issues and a worsening cholera epidemic in the Congo, Theresa’s House is in urgent need of safe, reliable source of drinking water. Recently, we had one generous donor pledge a $10,000 matching donation and we need your help to reach our goal.

Even a small amount can make a difference. We will be collecting pennies at LifeChange Church or you can also donate online. Please help us bring mayi (water) to those who need it most.
