Recently, I was presented with the opportunity to begin working in a local, women owned, cafe and grocery store. This beautiful opportunity has me working in a large commercial kitchen, surrounded by the very best people, baking for my community in the earliest hours of the morning, before the sun even rises above the horizon. I wasn’t sure how this change in my life would affect my bakery. I have poured my heart and soul into Baked Revolution. I don’t want to stop this important work, but I also feel like the universe is very purposefully shining a light on the next path for me to go down.
I’ve decided to close my kitchen to orders and markets while I focus on learning new skills and bettering myself as a baker. HOWEVER, this is not goodbye. I will still be here, doing activism work, driving social and political change to our community food systems. I will still be caring deeply for those who the system has unfairly deemed unworthy of nourishment.
When I started dreaming of Baked Revolution, I never dreamt the universe would bring me here. I’ve met amazing people who show me every day that the light in this world is SO SO much stronger than the darkness. I am grateful for each and every single one of you who have found yourselves sitting at this table.
I hope you stay with me on this journey, we are still building a better world, this work is not done.
With all the love and gratitude,
Kelly 💚
