My Story
A Place to De-Stress in Home Kitchen
Remembering growing up in a family-owned restaurant in Sabah, Malaysia, a business where the phrase 'working hard' was the only way to go about running a business. My siblings and I were deemed obligated to be part of the workforce, since helping meant being part of the family. As much as I had to believe this was part of my culture of how I was raised and taught, but as a kid, it was never fun and very tiresome! Little do I know, this little history of mine has secretly seeded a passion in my heart, which will then be discovered down the road on my life journey. Yes, something to do with food, baking in the kitchen! To ensure I do no need to depend on making food to survive, I studied hard, got my degree and went right into a big enterprise after graduation. I worked hard and enjoyed every single bit of it for close to 12 years. It was not an easy job and like every other job, it came with different levels of stress of many kind. Everyone deals with stress differently. I dealt with it in my little kitchen. Making cute dainty little desserts or baking different kind of breads, buns, rolls, you name it. It makes me happy! And I knew from the start, this is my ultimate hobby! Where did all the yummy goodies go? My families and friends. Many of my family and friends had requested if I could sell it, so that more people could enjoy it. I had the desire but was not courageous enough to do it because I did not want the stress to ruin my precious hobby. However, one day, which was September 2020, without giving much of a thought or any pre-planning, I launched my first offer to sell. Now, here I am, back into making food, quite ironic, but the lesson being learnt is, 'Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get'. So, go with your gut and passion! Love what you do and do not let yourself get stressed out by doing it. Regards,
Chien M.
