I was so grateful to be asked to provide desserts for the Come and Get It portion of Prize Fest: A Festival of Film, Food, Music and Comedy ! Making 600 mini pavlovas (plus a big one for the display!) was quite the undertaking, but seeing everything come together made all those hours in the kitchen worth it.

There’s something special about getting to be a small part of an event that brings so much creativity and talent together in our community. Thank you to everyone who trusted me with the sweet side of the evening, and Henrietta Wildsmith for capturing this beautiful shot!

And because those 600 pavlovas kept me pretty busy, there will be no cake slices at the 415 Bakery Stand this week. Sometimes this one-woman show needs a minute to catch her breath!

Good evening cake friends! I’ve got a BIG catering order to finish by Wednesday evening, so the 415 Bakery Stand will be a little lighter this week.

So tell me… what do you REALLY want me to stock? A slice of doberge? Toffee? Meringues? Candied nuts? Something else entirely?

I’ve got a little ghostly adventure planned, cake friends!

Here’s your first clue: think art, a little spooky magic, and a certain handmade ghost who’s ready to make an appearance. 👻✨

Your second clue? You might want to take a little stroll somewhere that’s full of beautiful things to look at… and maybe keep your eyes peeled for a certain cake lady. 😉

👻🎂 Hey, cake friends! Just a little reminder that my spooky little ghost cake is getting a new home TODAY! 🖤✨

I’ll be out and about later with this little guy, and one lucky cake friend is going to get to take him home!

Where will I be? Well… you’ll just have to keep your eyes peeled! I’ll share the details/clues a little later, so stay tuned!

And yes, I really am giving away an entire cake. Because apparently I’ve lost my mind, and y’all get to benefit from it.

A little spooky, a little moody, and a whole lot of handmade details! 👻🖤

This one was a fun little experiment! The ghost was hand-sculpted from clay, the buttercream got its texture from lace (yes, actual lace!), and those little black buttercream bats got a touch of hand-painted gold.

A big thank-you to JLynn for teaching me some new photography tricks & allowing me to use a wall in his space! Turns out even an old cake lady can learn some new tricks.

And speaking of JLynn, he’s opened a NEW tattoo studio (VNDL Art Collective) just down the way from the 415 Bakery Stand! So if you’ve been thinking about getting some new ink, go show him and his crew some love! 🖤

AND… I’M GIVING THIS CAKE AWAY TOMORROW! I just haven’t quite figured out how I’m going to do that yet. 😂 So y’all stay tuned while I get my act together and come up with a plan! It is a tall 6” round Royale doberge cake (chocolate, chocolate pudding and more chocolate) with extra layers…I think 8 if I am recalling correctly.

Cuban Liquor and W**e is stocked with all the cake slices you could want so go by and stock up! It is a beautiful day to enjoy the day and then treat yourself to a sweet treat. Slices to choose from German chocolate, chocolate & caramel, chocolate doberge and a few sweet potato doberge.

I am at the kitchen this morning to finish up a few things so I’m going to open up the 415 Bakery Stand while I’m here. I’ll be here until noon if you want to stop by for cake slices. I still have a few slices each of the chocolate & caramel, chocolate doberge and German Chocolate. What is left I will bring to Cuban. Come make your Saturday even sweeter!

Cuban is stocked and ready to go! The 415 Bakery Stand is stocked, too, but I have to make one more stop before I can open it up. I’m taking my son to volunteer at the Red River Revel, so the stand will be opening a little later.

I should have everything open and ready by 2pm! Thanks for your patience, and I hope y’all get a little something sweet for your Friday!

Happy Friday, cake friends!

It’s cake slice day at BOTH Cuban and the 415 Bakery Stand! Hopefully all will be stocked by 3pm. No confections or pavlovas this week because I’m still not quite back to 100%. Apparently my body didn’t get the memo that I have sweets to make! 😂

But don’t worry, we’ve still got CAKE! And y’all, this week’s lineup is a good one!

German Chocolate Cake

Chocolate Doberge

Sweet Potato Doberge — vanilla sponge layered with sweet potato custard that tastes like sweet potato pie, all wrapped up in cream cheese frosting. Hello, fall! 🍂

Chocolate & Caramel Doberge — chocolate sponge, alternating layers of whipped caramel and chocolate pudding, chocolate buttercream, and a chocolate ganache finish. Because apparently chocolate needed a little extra chocolate.

Now comes the REALLY important question…

Which slice are you grabbing? One? Two? Are we pretending we’re sharing?
