Bakery Journal | Getting It Right
Some recipes come together pretty easily. Our Brown Butter Cinnamon Rolls weren't one of them.
Different butters. Different amounts of filling. Different rolling techniques. Even different packaging.
Every ingredient, every step, every little detail was questioned, tested, and adjusted.
I had a very specific result in mind: soft, tender rolls with sticky cinnamon-sugar centers, caramelized edges, and the deep, nutty flavor of browned butter running through the dough, filling, and icing.
And I wasn't interested in calling the recipe finished until all those pieces worked together.
There's a lot that happens behind the scenes at Sourhouse long before something makes it onto the menu. Plenty of test batches, plenty of adjustments, and occasionally a complete return to the drawing board.
A recipe doesn't earn its place on the menu just because it turned out well once.
These rolls took some work. And apparently, you were just as ready for them as I was. 🤎
Both singles and four-packs sold out, and I haven't even started baking them yet.
Thank you for the incredible response. I can't wait to get these into your hands.
