Vietnam’s “yellow town” 🏘️

Hoi An is known for its yellow buildings, old tiled rooftops and hundreds of colorful lanterns but I didn’t realize how much history was behind all of it.

Centuries ago, this little town was one of Southeast Asia’s busiest trading ports, bringing together Vietnamese, Chinese, Japanese and European influences. Somehow so much of that old world charm is still here.

And when the lanterns come on at night… completely different kind of beautiful and absolutely breath taking

One of those places where the pictures are gorgeous, but being there is even better. What an absolute privilege to be able to experience it ❤️

Okay, backstory on this hat… 😂

Yesterday I saw a woman wearing one of these Vietnamese hats and told Henry, “I need to get one before we leave.” I could already picture myself wearing it when my family picks me up at the airport.

This morning at breakfast, Henry spotted a girl wearing this one and told her he loved it.

Y’all… she took it off and GAVE IT TO US. 😂❤️

I literally said yesterday that I wanted one.

And yes, I wore it on our walk right after breakfast. 😂🇻🇳

Sometimes life is just funny like that.

He is sweet, smart, creative, and this boy definitely knows how to use his words especially when it comes to his mama. 😂
He loves Minecraft, building things, creating, and doing things his own way. I love watching his personality grow more and more every year.
Seven years old already. 🥹 Happy birthday, Jian. Grandma loves you so much. ❤️
