I’m okay…

Some days are easier than others.
Some days I laugh more than I thought I would.
Some days I still can’t believe how much life has changed.
But overall?

I’m okay. ❤️😊

Anybody Else?

Anybody else ever make a plan…
And life decide it had other ideas? 😆
The older I get, the more I’m learning to roll with it.

Didn’t see this one coming…🤯😱

Then again, some of the biggest changes in my life NEVER came with a warning.
Life looks a little different these days, but I’m learning that’s not always a bad thing. ❤️

Oconee County! Look at what we did ! 💪❤️

Homegrown Magazine officially released their very first edition, and Odette’s Bakery is part of it.

Seeing this finally in print means a lot after the past couple weeks. Thank you to Homegrown Magazine for sharing our story, and thank YOU to everyone who supported us from the beginning.

No matter what happens next, the love and support this community showed us will always be part of Odette’s Bakery. ❤️

I’ll be posting soon where you guys can pick up a copy once Homegrown sends over the list of locations carrying the magazine

THE REMARKABLE STORY OF MY MOM ❤️

To the woman who taught me what strength really looks like.
This is my mom. Let me tell you something about her.
My mom is the oldest of her sisters, one of 7 children. She survived the Japanese invasion of the Philippines as a little girl. To keep his children alive, my grandfather would bury them in the ground with only their heads above the soil, then cover their heads with vases and anything else he could find so the soldiers wouldn’t capture them. That’s the kind of survival my mom was born into.
She only finished the 5th grade before she had to work to help feed her family and even as a child, she was buying pencils and paper for her younger siblings so they could stay in school. That’s who she’s always been. The one who gives first.
She had 8 children of her own. She has buried 3 of them. The most recent my older sister, to stage 4 colon cancer. At the height of the pandemic, my mom got on a plane and flew back to the States to hold her daughter’s hand as she died.
When my dad passed with no life insurance, my mom worked 2 and 3 jobs to raise the 4 of us still at home. She became a dietitian and worked in that field for 22 years. And somehow, on her rare days off, she still cooked for us, still took us to amusement parks, still sent money home to her parents in the Philippines.
A few years ago, she went into 100% renal failure. And do you know what she did? She flew to Japan to see her sisters one more time, then flew to Vegas for treatment. The doctors will tell you she shouldn’t have survived that flight. But God wasn’t done with her yet.
War. Famine. Poverty. Losing her husband. Burying her children. Losing her closest sister. Renal failure.
And she just… kept going. No breakdown. No bitterness. She walked through the fire and came out the other side still soft enough to grow orchids the rarest orchids you’ve ever seen. She covers them in cheesecloth in the winter like they’re her babies. She talks to them because she swears they can hear her. And I believe her. Anything that grows under my mother’s hands knows it’s loved. My mom is my HERO!! Every time I think about her, I get the sense of pride and gratitude!! “ yeah that’s my mom”
To every mother reading this the ones working two jobs, grieving in silence, giving everything and asking for nothing I see you. What you carry is holy. Happy Mother’s Day ❤️❤️

💙 A PROUD MAMA MOMENT 💙
Today my oldest daughter earned her MASTER’S DEGREE in Medical Management from the University of New Orleans.
She is the FIRST in our family to ever reach this milestone. The very first.
I couldn’t be there in person, but I watched every moment of the live stream and I cried like a baby.
This young woman is strong. She is driven. She has grit and determination that take my breath away. She faced a year that would’ve broken most people, and she still showed up, still pushed forward, still walked across that stage with her head held high.
On top of everything, she is the most amazing mama and the reason I get the gift of being called Grandma. 🥹
Baby girl, I am SO proud of you. You changed our family tree today. Keep shining.
To every woman following this page never underestimate what you’re capable of. Our strength is something else. ✨

This is my Ace, my partner, my right hand. 🧡
If you’ve been to Odette’s Bakery, you’ve seen this man hustle. 10 to 12 trips a day during our busy seasons running back to the house for one more treat, one more box, one more chance to make sure every single customer left with exactly what they came for. That’s Henry. That’s who he is when no one’s watching, and definitely when everyone is.
What we built together wasn’t just a bakery. It was a love letter to our community that showed up for us in ways we’ll never forget.
Here’s what I want you all to know: Circumstances will test you. Doors will close that you didn’t choose to close. But we are built different. Henry and I? We don’t break. We don’t shrink. We don’t beg for permission to keep going. We bend, we pivot, we cry a little, and then we rise stronger, clearer, and more unstoppable than before.
This chapter is closing, but make no mistake we are walking out of it more powerful than we walked in. With more love. More clarity. More fire. And more gratitude than ever for the people who saw us, supported us, and showed up.
To everyone who walked through our doors thank you for believing in two people chasing a dream. That belief is coming with us wherever we go next, and trust me, you’ll want to stay tuned.
This isn’t goodbye. It’s just the beginning of something even bigger.
Before we go we still have beautiful inventory looking for the right home. Tomorrow is it. Our final day. ❤️

We wanted to do something special… so our friends from Lucky Pennie Farms are bringing their adorable Highland cow Maggie out for everyone to meet. Kids (and of course adults) are going to love her. 10:00am - 1:00pm

We’ll also have Majoe’s Filipino Food here from 11–3pm. My favorite and they started with us from the beginning so it’s very special to have them out.

And yes, the entire shop is still on sale, $3 shelves, $5 shelves, $10 shelves… a perfect chance to grab Mother’s Day gifts or just take a little piece of the bakery home with you.

And if you know any small business owners who might want to pick up some of our retail items for their shop, we’d be so grateful if you connected us. 🙏

The weather is supposed to be beautiful, and more than anything, this is your last chance to come by, say goodbye, and spend a little time with us.

If someone comes to mind, tag them below, share this post, or bring a friend or family member with you tomorrow. It would mean a lot to us. ❤️

We love you all and truly hope to see you tomorrow.

We’ll be open 10:00am - 5:00pm.

Lemon blueberry cupcakes
Fruity Pebble macarons
Chocolate chip banana bread

Saturday & Sunday (May 2 and May 3)
