Dry aged beef for our Audrey and David Eugene burritos comes from in eastern Washington. We use a cut from the round that has great flavor, but takes some skill to trim it out all the chewy bits. Luckily we have a smart butcher around with access to YouTube. I don’t think that beef like this, with such great flavor, needs a whole lot extra. So all we do is marinate it overnight with our secret seasoning blend before throwing it on the grill (Lake City) or screaming hot cast iron (Ballard). Personally, I’m not a steak person; I’ll always lean towards braises or pork. But exceptions can be made for this stuff.

Thanks for working with us to figure out how to get meat on the menu at a price point that works for burritos.

A breakfast sandwich in this economy? Last year we set out to make the best breakfast sandwich possible at a lower price point. We emerged from the lab with The Professor PJ: scrambled egg, Benton’s country ham, havarti, sprouts, herb may, and pepper jam on a house made milk bun. It’s a little lighter than our other sandwiches, but the flavor quotient punches above its weight. We’re very proud, and it costs $11.

No substitutions on this one. And when we’re out of buns we’re out of PJs.

Shrimp burritos on special, aguas frescas, complimentary passionfruit birthday cake, and a band led by Seattle’s *only* bagel influencer AND jazz impresario, .everything.bagel.

Deep thanks to the hard working staff that makes this place possible, the customers that continually remind us why we want to be in hospitality, and our great hosts and landlords . We’ve had a fantastic time in our first two years in Lake City, and we look forward to many more!

There’s only one Bob Dylan, but there are many Bobby D.’s. Does that make them less authentic? Or does it compliment a guy whose career began with mimicry and plagiarized (?) his Nobel prize acceptance speech? Many questions, many delicious answers.

🚨Sujuk breakfast sandwich special this Saturday/Sunday in Ballard! With scrambled egg, muhammara, black olives, parsley salad, and karper cheese spread.

Emir Demirtas put this banger together in honor of the retirement of local UW hero / professor Reşat Kasaba. Proceeds will be donated to Turkish Philanthropy Funds.

In Aslı Cansunar’s words: “As Professor Reşat Kasaba retires after 42 years at UW, we are celebrating a career marked by remarkable scholarship, deep generosity, mentorship, and community. His contributions to Turkish Studies have left a lasting mark on the field, and at UW he helped build an intellectual home for generations of students and colleagues. Through the Turkish Circle, he created a space of exchange, rigor, and warmth where people felt welcomed, supported, and inspired. His influence has shaped generations of scholars, and his impact on UW and far beyond it will be felt for years to come.”
