I will not quit!!!

Right now everything seems to be against me delivering delicious cakes and sweet and savory treats to the community.

Since the break-in and robbery there have been so many challenges and hurdles to navigate and get around. From declining orders, to not enough capital to replace all the equipment and wares, to contactor delays, faulty new equipment, and now...due to human error, I had to throw out over $400.00 worth of pershibles due to the electrician accidently turning off the power to my raw ingredient refrigerator 😵‍💫.

Should I stay or should I close...I'm holding on Seattle!!!

Help us to rebuild 🤗

I'm reaching out to my community with a heavy ❤️. My small business, Brown Sugar Baking Company, which has been a labor of love for over 15 years here in Seattle, was the victim of a devastating robbery on Saturday Jan 31st. We did not find out until Tues Feb 3rd.

From 3:42AM until 9:16AM, the thieves took, all of my essential equipment, event & pop-up supplies, utility carts and valuable inventory, leaving me with significant losses and the emotional trauma of this violation.

I have also lost the ability to provide short term leasing in the space for other micro-businesses.
Running this business is my passion, and this incident has completely derailed my ability to operate and serve the community I love.

My #1 supporter started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the costs of replacing the stolen items, repairing the damage, and getting back on track, that is not covered by my insurance. The funds raised will be used specifically for:

• Replacing essential equipment/inventory
• Replacing and adding additional security equipment and entry points breached during the break-in
•Covering immediate operating expenses while we recover

It is difficult for me to ask for help, but any contribution, big or small, will make a profound difference in helping me rebuild my livelihood.

As a small business, we’ve been giving the general strike tomorrow a lot of thought. We have decided not to be open.

Friday, January 30th, we will be participating in the National General Strike to support our employees, our city, and our country.

If you are able, we invite you to support all of your favorite small and micro businesses this Saturday and Sunday.
