Sometimes the best of us get hit the hardest.
Sam has consistently been one of the warmest and most open hearted people to welcome me at the many markets we share.
On Tuesday night, June 9th, Sara and Sam Lucchese experienced a devastating fire at their home. The fire wiped out their food production kitchen, destroyed many personal belongings, and caused substantial damage to their living space. The full extent of the damage is still unknown, but it has already put their future and the businesses they’ve worked so hard to build in jeopardy.
Sara and Sam are longtime residents of Ballard and have dedicated themselves to bringing delicious, locally made food to the community through Vespucci Pizza, Pasteria Lucchese, and La Crespella. Their presence at farmers markets has been a cornerstone for so many market-goers, and their passion for local food has enriched the lives of countless neighbors. Now, they are facing an unimaginable challenge as they try to recover from this loss.
Funds raised through this campaign will be used to replace essential equipment for their small business, make necessary repairs to bring their commercial kitchen back online, and remediate the damage to their living space. Sara and Sam, the market community loves you and we are here for you. As market-goers, we should step up to support them in this time of need.
