Sometimes Spencer and I like to do an "urban hike," or, in other words, walk a really long way through the city. We used to walk to Pike Place Market all the time when we lived in Capitol Hill, but from Ballard, it's a bit of a haul. So going there to get a blanket I'd been eyeing from Eighth Generation was the perfect excuse for one of these hikes! We started at Zuri's Donutz for breakfast. Then we saw lots of cool stuff along the way, especially along the Burke-Gilman Trail. On our way home, we stopped at Sisters and Brothers for hot chicken and Fuji Bakery for pastries. A great day, and all in all about 13 miles of walking!
In case you have not seen it yet, SDOT has a survey out on the future of outdoor cafes, retail displays and vending on public sidewalks and plazas, in curb (parking) spaces, and during full or partial street closures.
