✨ BIG UPDATE!! ✨
This post has been a long time coming, and I am SO excited to finally share the news...
Countryside Confections is moving to Main Street! 🎉
I've heard all the rumors and excitement around town, so I figured it was finally time to make it official and share the news with those outside of the Scotland community, too!
First, I want to talk about what this means for Countryside Confections. From a day-to-day standpoint, not much will change. I'll still be taking custom cookie orders and offering pop-up sales and holiday treats just like I always have. The biggest change is that once we're fully open and operational, all cookie pickups will take place at the bakery instead of my home.
But this move opens the door to so many exciting opportunities!
The new bakery will be a fully certified commercial kitchen. Up until now, I've been operating under South Dakota's cottage food law, which has served me well, but this next step allows me to do so much more.
Some of the things I'm most excited about:
🍪 Shipping! I'll finally be able to ship products instead of offering local pickup only.
🏪 Wholesale opportunities! If you're a business owner interested in carrying Countryside Confections products in your store, I'd love to connect and see what we can create together.
🎂 New possibilities! A commercial kitchen gives me the flexibility to expand my offerings and continue growing the business in ways that weren't possible before.
One thing I do want to clarify is what this move doesn't mean.
While Countryside Confections is growing, I am not becoming a full-time baker. I am still a full-time crop insurance agent, a career that I truly love, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. The bakery will always be a side business and creative outlet for me.
I've heard a lot of excitement about having a bakery on Main Street where people can stop in daily to grab fresh baked goods. While I absolutely appreciate that enthusiasm, that's not quite what this space will be. The building is first and foremost an office space that happens to have a commercial kitchen in the back.
I do plan to host pop-up sales and special events where you'll be able to stop in and purchase products, but it won't be a traditional walk-in bakery with daily offerings. There simply aren't enough hours in the day to keep up with both baking and serving my crop insurance clients the way I want to!
The building will also be home to several different businesses, and we're excited to share more details about the space and everyone involved as we get closer to completion.
I also want to give a huge shoutout to Schaeffer Construction. They've been doing an incredible job, and I'm amazed at how quickly the building is coming together. These photos were taken just a week ago, and the inside already looks completely different!
As for me, I've been busy dreaming up new ideas and experimenting with products that I'll be able to offer from the commercial kitchen. I can't thank everyone enough for the support you've shown over the years. What started as a small home bakery has grown into something I never could have imagined, and I'm so grateful to have all of you along for the journey.
I can't wait to share what's coming next and, eventually, welcome you to the newest business on Main Street in Scotland!
