Thank you so much to Seagle Crew! We are so honored to be a part of your experience here in Schroon Lake. Cindy gets to live her theater mom days with all of you. Literally brings us absolute joy to have you at Cupola and to watch you perform. We will miss you very much. Seagle Festival 🙏

Every summer, around 30 opera and musical theater performers from around the country come to the Adirondacks for intensive vocal training at Seagle Festival.

For most, it's their first year. This season, Seth Younglove, Madeline Darigan and John Drake are back in Schroon Lake for another summer.

They each said the community played a role.

"The community aspect of Seagle is so important because when you go into town and it's the same people coming in the shows and you're seeing them everywhere, it's not like you're just performing opera as a gig into the the ether, like it can can sometimes feel like in a conservatory setting. You're performing for who you're seeing in town every day and there's much more of a valuable relationship there," Darigan said.

The other day someone asked me what I did for fun. I couldn't answer it. In fact I'm not sure I had ever been asked that question that seems pretty common. I wasn't upset that I couldn't answer it. I just felt stuck. Like was I supposed to have specific answers on the ready to define my fun activities? It took me a few days to come back to the question in my mind and why I found it so hard to answer. As adults are we supposed to define it? Kids have fun just being kids. I think that's me still. I see a squirrel and it's fun!

I realized that I find fun everywhere. Work is fun. My kids are fun. My customers and friends are fun. My staff is fun. I love fun. I'm almost embarrassed how often I tell dumb stories that I find fun just to amuse myself and others. I'm a curious person and have a ton of interest that are "fun". I paint and create, write songs, short stories, forage, ponder, bake, listen to books and stories endlessly, always learning something new, and I can talk the bark from a tree. I look for fun in almost every situation imaginable. I have fun getting food from Cupola by boat with Mike. That's fun. We did that on Monday.

I still don't know how to answer that question in short form but I hope you all find fun in all of your lives. Maybe we don't have to be a bungee jumper or ride roller coasters to have fun, but listening to someone talk about it can be just as fun. I still can't answer it. It's like asking if I have favorites, I don't have just one.

How would you answer that question, I would love to know what's fun for all of you?
