🍩❤️Update (for our Forever Donut Friends):

It was about one year ago when we made the difficult decision to close Industrial Donut⚙️🍩.

In the middle of that uncertainty, Becca reached out to a fellow entrepreneur, someone who at the time was just an acquaintance. Kyle Kirchhoefer, a natural innovator, restless and always willing to take a risk, shared his and José's dream of owning a restaurant and asked if Becca would help him launch and market Kyle's Corner. She was thrilled to help make their dream come true, as hers was coming to a close. They went full speed ahead (in true Kyle and Becca fashion) and successfully opened in record time!

Meanwhile, James began searching for a new career where he could put his business and management background to work and quickly found a perfect fit at ClarkLindsey. He was soon promoted to Director of Lindsey Life, which operates Home Care services and an Adult Day Center in Champaign and Decatur.
Two months ago, a sales and marketing role opened up at Lindsey Communities, the parent organization of ClarkLindsey and Lindsey Life. Feeling good about where Kyle's Corner had landed, Becca jumped at the opportunity to work alongside James again (for the third time in their lives).

And Sydney? You can find her serving tables at Kyle's Corner, in the same building she once learned to dip donuts in, at only 8 years old.

Once acquaintances, the Powers family and the Kirchhoefers will forever be tied to one another and Industrial Donut to Kyle's Corner. Different stories in the same book.

❓️Why the update? Because one year ago, we needed this post... for hope... as a reminder of God's provision... as a reminder that there are still good people in the world... that life goes on ❤️.

Full of gratitude,
The Powers Family

Local Biz Spotlight: VinKat Salon
VinKat Salon & Spa at the Fields
While VinKat offers a wide range of salon services, we're especially impressed with their pedicures! 💅

The prices are reasonable, the appointments are long enough to feel like a true self-care treat, and the polish actually lasts. Plus, the salon is spotless, and the atmosphere feels relaxing and upscale.

With three local locations, we've only visited their location at The Fields in Champaign, but it's been a great experience every time.

Anyone remember this sign? 😝

We've made it a weekly tradition to stop by Kyle's Corner on Sunday evenings to order a Nutella Crepe (or 2 😉)... and it's quickly become one of our favorite ways to wrap up the weekend.

Something that will never be lost on us... walking in to a small business and seeing the owner(s) working the grill, ringing up customers, taking to-go orders, checking in with guests, and making sure everyone leaves happy.

But here's another thing, summer can be one of the toughest seasons for small businesses. Between vacations, weekend tournaments, lake trips, and busy family schedules, it's easy to fall out of our normal routines. But the small businesses that make our communities unique are still here every day, pouring their hearts into serving their neighbors.

So here's an AroundChambanavoy challenge:

☀️ Create a Summer Bucket List, and make sure it includes some of your favorite local businesses. Grab dinner from a neighborhood restaurant, shop at a local boutique, enjoy ice cream, visit a farmers market, or finally try that place you've been meaning to check out.

👇 Tag your favorite locally owned and operated businesses in the comments so we can all discover (and support) more local gems this summer!
