La Dona, pronounced (La-Dough-Na) & translates to "The Donut"
in Spanish, all began when Chelsea Elliott, owner/operator,
spent a year in Baltimore, where she saw the trend of gourmet
donut shops beginning to take off. She was inspired to bring the baked goods trend to Sarasota,
even though she had never made a donut before in her life. On Black Friday 2014, her boyfriend bought her a mixer.

With some encouragement from her friends and family, she started making
small batches of donuts from scratch in her kitchen and giving
them out to locals, friends, & family. With lots of experimenting, trial & error, the La Dona cake donut
was born. The demand for new flavors & inspirations for the
donuts caught on and she knew she had something unique and
different for this town. Trying to one day own her own shop, La Dona is for now, a
delivery service! Offices, Families, & Events have all enjoyed La Dona and for now will continue to fulfill everyone's sweet tooth and bring them right to your door!
