There comes a time when you look at life and ask yourself “What more can I do to improve my own situation and remain true to mission and purpose?” I’ve gotten some interesting answers. I have acted on every single one. In this continuously challenging season of my life (we’re at 20 years), I’m acting on this latest answer to query and this is my submission for Season 20 of America’s Got Talent.
“I had sung all of my life. For my school, my church and for my country. In 2004 I succumbed to injury and illness due to my service in war. Before being permanently, medically retired, I was submitted to, among other things, a surgery that removed my uvula and soft palate and rendered me unable to taste, smell or sing. I have been sick for 20 years now and function at a level of pain that would hospitalize most. Blessedly, in the last few years a voice to sing has returned. I don’t recognize it, but I am grateful for and work at it. My world has become very small, but I have music and it has literally saved my life.
I am a 100 percent service disabled combat veteran and rated as unemployable. My ultimate goal is to leverage every gift, talent and skill I have to heal combat veterans like me with alternative healing modalities that insurances don’t cover and VA doesn’t offer. But I must place my own mask first.”
I then submitted this video of “Hallelujah “, the Veteran’s Version
