DONUT SPOTLIGHT:
THE BUTTERMILK CROWN —
A "ROYALLY"-GOOD DONUT!

Mike of Original Ferrell's, AKA the Donut King, is pretty proud of their shop's unique-to-Santa Cruz, buttermilk crown. Originally co-developed with the help of his father and the shop's donut-making elves, it has been a mainstay the last 35 years.

Mike says, "Our buttermilk crown is a kissing-cousin' of our buttermilk bars — plain, chocolate, and glazed. It's most similar to the glazed buttermilk, and filled with raspberry jelly. When that's done, donut-making elf Dolf— he changes his name weekly — will add a very special dusting of powdered sugar."

Mike say, "The buttermilk crown raspberry jelly donut is real pretty... it's like eye candy. And Dolf does a good job with them, though I do wonder what name he'll go by next week."

Kids (of all ages) love the buttermilk crowns, and are available and baked fresh 7 days a week at the Santa Cruz location!

Original Ferrell's Big-Time Fun Donut —
The Cinnamon Twist!

This popular donut has graced the glass case of Original Ferrell's Donuts for "only" 47 years. They are smaller than the store's cinnamon rolls, though about 1/3 less in size. Shaped by hand, the twist in each donut adds a "care-free fun-ness" to them :)

Backstory: Way back in time, Original Ferrell's Donuts had not been making Cinnamon Twists until the D.K.'s (Donut King's) father had talked him into it. The Cinnamon Twist was an immediate hit and they've never looked back on the donut's success.

And since D.K. was so appreciative of his father's suggestion, upon visiting Original Ferrell's Donuts, D.K. always gave his father close to a 10 percent discount on the purchase of five or more Cinnamon Twists.

Such a sweet and generous overture!! After all, the success of the Cinnamon Twist has afforded D.K. the ability to build three houses, own five cars and two boats, and one personal jet, a humble Bombardier 8,000, same as what Bill Gates owns.

ORIGINAL FERREL'S
CINNAMON CRUMBLE CAKE
AN "ADULT" DONUT

This gem of a donut has been a mainstay of Original Ferrell's Donuts for ONLY 47 years!

It's in essence a chocolate cake donut topped with cinnamon crumbles. The shop's D.K. , AKA the Donut King, says, "It's real popular with people." Wow, nothing like great insight from the D.K.!

Pressed for further info, it turns out this particular donut is not one that kids gravitate towards.

Nope. It's an adult donut. Though anyone of any age can indulge in a Cinnamon Crumble Cake, this here donut is one that kids tend to leave to the adults.

So the good news is parents know they can knock back a couple of Cinnamon Crumble Cakes without their little angels pawing their sticky little fingers all over their "adult donut".

The sage-like D.K. says, "Though the Cinnamon Crumble Cake is an adult donut, we've never felt the need to card customers. We figure whomever is purchasing a Cinnamon Crumble Cake can handle the truth. I would hate to write someone up..."

Our advice is to purchase as many Cinnamon Crumble Cakes as you like. And if you see the D.K. in the shop, just run the other way.

The venerable donut and sandwich shop has been turning out their majorly pleasurable maple cake donuts for 30 years. Original Ferrell's Donuts cake-style donuts "are particularly popular," says the shop's D.K., AKA the Donut King.

ORIGINAL FERRELL'S DONUTS BEAR CLAWS
SO GOOD, YA DON'T WANT TO SHARE!

Original Ferrell's has been making bear claws for more than 20 years. This donut, or pastry, is a favorite because of its rugged looks and sweet nutty filling of almond paste. Topped with a vanilla glaze and slivered almonds, this large donut is big enough to share but most customers of Original Ferrell's won't share.

You have to wonder why not?

"I tell you why not," says DK, the Original Ferrell's personal Donut King, "because they're too darn good. These dern bear claws are easily the best bear claws you will find anywhere on Capitola Road — I'm serious! I've overheard many a mother tell their very own kids, 'get your own,' when their little angels are begging for just one bite... Yup: that's some serious love of our bear claws."

DK has been known to make up stories, but he's not exaggerating about the shop's bear claws likability. If you're not familiar with Original Ferrell's Donuts bear claws, we suggest you pick one up soon. No, better make that two because these bear claws ain't built for sharing!
