HAPPY PRIDE MONTH!! 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
To those who are new here or to those who don’t know, Hi! I’m Jay, owner of Carter’s Confections and I am an openly out and proud trans man.
I have come out over and over again over the course of my life and each time is just as nerve wracking as the last but this time really made me second guess myself. I have worked so hard to build my business, and never wanted who I was to negatively impact its success, but if I’m being honest, the reason my business is what it is today is because of who I am.
I always said that if I had a platform where my voice could be heard, I would use it to speak for my community. And the community that I love so dearly is under attack right now. Legislation is being pushed constantly to strip us of our rights and our humanity.
I want to take this moment to tell you trans people are NOT the villains we are made out to be. We are real people with families who love us. We are parents, we are siblings, we have jobs and contribute to our local economies. We own businesses. And some of us even bake cakes 🎂 And our voices matter.
If you’ve read this far, I want to thank you for listening to me and being here, and always supporting me. It means the world to me to have such an incredible following of people who continue to celebrate my work.
If you know someone in the LGBT+community I strongly encourage you to reach out to them, check on them, and give them your support. They need it more than you may realize. And if you yourself are a part of our big, beautiful community, I want to wish you an amazing pride month 💗🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈
