I made my first vintage heart cake and of course I can see all ā€œthe areas for improvementsā€ šŸ™ˆšŸ™ˆšŸ™ˆ

Sooooooo here are a few quick little tips that can help if you would like to give it a go;

ā€¢Firstly, make more buttercream than you think. I donā€™t think this type of piping is too hard to achieve with just a bit a practice beforehand. But there isnā€™t any wiggle room if you donā€™t have enough buttercream to add in areas you would need to cover the mistakes. So definitely make more buttercreamā£ļø

ā€¢Invest in good quality piping bags & a coupler set. Couplers are going to be your best friend when going from design to design without having to use so many piping bags & the hassle of removing the tips from bag to bag.

ā€¢Work with a chilled cake!! I found that it is such a life saver when you are working with a very chilled cake, especially for this type of design because you are able to easily scrape off any frosting, if you make a mistake.

ā€¢Lastly, skip the natural fresh cherries. If you are like me wanting to do the trendy cherry šŸ’ decorations, donā€™t get the fresh cherries. They are too dark in color & donā€™t match the aestheticšŸ’šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø Instead buy a jar of maraschino cherries, they are a vibrant bright red color. And will take the design to the next levelā£ļø I did have to dig to find the best looking ones with the stem but it was definitely worth it to achieve the lookā£ļø

Even though my baking is for fun, Iā€™m sooo happy for this cake trend & hope itā€™s around for a long whileā£ļøā£ļøā£ļø
