We are getting closer to our finals days before we close for the summer. Our preorder inventory sold out in less than 3 hours earlier this week! Holy Sh**t 😱 Ya’ll blew me away and was not expecting that at all!

Edgar and I decided to make as much as we (more like me) possibly can for our last big push, reaching at least 1,000 pieces of pastries! We have nearly 700 pieces available for walk up purchases so let’s all be patient as we serve each and everyone one of you. I also made a Google doc (link in bio) for our current stock / sold out items that you can see LIVE while you are in line to help keep the line flowing. We will have some off menu items available and will be posted very soon on our stories once we are done with production tomorrow.

This is the biggest bake I ever done since opening this microbakery. Starting our business from 100 to 1,000 pastries is all possible because of your support. We started off with a small idea of selling at Alhambra Park out of our plastic containers, to a table set up with a mesh tent and now from our home kitchen where you can see where all the magic happens. It’s really bazaar to reflect on the last three and half years of how far Crumbs and Flakes had grown to where I hoped it would eventually be.

I remember when I was in the initial stages of doing my paperwork, one of my brothers kept asking me what my plan was with the business in the long run. At this time, my parents didn’t know anything about it until 3 months after opening. (You can just imagine having that conversation with Asian immigrant parents who highly push for stability.) And truthfully, I never had a plan. I had some hopes and dreams you can say but it wasn’t clear to me yet. Each step I took was based on what opportunity was given to me at the moment and what I currently was able to do with the business to let it grow towards the direction I would be happy with.

To this day, I still don’t plan on having a store front. It’s currently not in any plans. I am very much happy of where I am now and would like to see where this new direction will lead us to. Thank YOU for helping us make all of this happen.

Swipe 👉 for the MENU

The moment you are all waiting for! We are opening our home for the first time to the public. To make it extra special, we will have serving Guatemalan coffee and Chinese tea. Claudia and Chen, owners and partners, are doing a soft launch this weekend. Claudia and I were previously coworkers before I started my business. She has worked in the industry for nearly a decade in the most prestigious restaurants all over LA. We expect it to be a busy day, please be patient with us as we do our best to quickly serve each and every one of you.

This might sound kind of ridiculous to say but I want to make it clear to all our customers to PLEASE respect our neighborhood. Meaning, don’t block any of the driveways. Even though you are only doing a quick preorder pick up, please park your car thoroughly before coming to our front door. There is more parking available around the corner on Rose Glen Ave. We would love to continue to do this pop up from our home in the near future and want to give the best experience to all our customers, and especially our amazing neighbors who also have been very supportive.

We will have pastries available for walk up purchases and we will do our best to have pastries all throughout the hours. Preorders will also be available on Hotplate (link in bio and website) until Wednesday at NOON or until our inventory is sold out.

I will have off menu items on both days to help get rid of low inventory. They will be posted on my story as we get closer to the day. This will only be available for walk up purchases.

We hope you can make it! Thank you for the being the best neighbor and community for the past three and half years. ❤️

Thank you all for coming out to visit us. It was more than what I imagined or expected! The line kept growing back all the way to the sidewalk every time I kept looking up. At some point, I had to turn away a good amount of you before you waited in line for a while to get nothing. I hope you can come back and give us a try again this upcoming week or when we return. Thank you for your understanding and patience with us.

Here’s some of the things we made.

Our last pop up at Alhambra Park will be this weekend. AND since it’s Memorial Day weekend, I figured I make a classic favorite of s’mores by using our chocolate cake recipe wth graham cracker crust and a marshmallow fluff!

Let’s not panic just because it’s the last day at the park. We will open our home in Rosemead NEXT weekend (Saturday and Sunday) for walk up purchase and preorder for one last pop up. We will also have coffee available made by to pair with your favorite pastries. More details to come!

For now, preorders are live on Hotplate (link in bio or website) for this weekend’s pick up at Alhambra Park on Saturday. We will also have walk purchases available on a first come first serve basis.

See you soon and thank you so much!

🚨Bakery Update!🚨

As many of you know, I am about a month away from my due date and have plans to work until end of this month. If you are new on my page, welcome to our small bakery journey, and figuratively, I have a bun in the oven!

As the past three weeks had gone by, my body has physically been changing and I am constantly adapting to the needs for it whether it’s more naps, sitting, eating, and etc. However, on bake days, I’ve noticed each morning has now become more difficult for me to do physically. (AND during the week, I have good days of movement and the next day I will have bad days of just wanting to stay on the couch.) I am still very hands on with all the pastries you purchase from us and working 12 hours days, from baking to selling. Luckily, I have the support to have help for clean up when I get back home so I can go straight to bed. Overall, I am a very active person but It’s time I tap out from pushing my body to the edge.

With that being said, this weekend on May 23 will be our last day at Alhambra Park. We will be short staffed on production for the last two weeks and need to pivot. My work will not stop there!

The last week of the month, May 30 & 31, we will open our home for walk up purchase and preorder picks up for to-go. We will set up our kitchen into a small cafe where you can get a glimpse of where all the magic happens and grab our delicious pastries one last time before we take leave. Instead of spending 3 hours on washing more dishes, hauling for set up/ break down, AND bringing limited amount of pastries for our walk up purchase, we will use this time to produce more pastries to be able to serve as many people as we can. ALSO, we will have a good friend of mine from serving up a limited menu of Guatemalan coffee and Chinese tea. This will be our last hoo-ra celebration before our new chapter in life. I hope you can make the time out of your day to drive a bit further away to Rosemead to visit us. This may be the next phase of C&F when we come back from leave. We hope you can continue supporting us through this journey of change and growth.

This cheesy sugary croissant is one of our original pastries I put on the menu when I opened three years ago. It’s a very underrated pastry that needs more attention. When I started this business, I wanted a pastry that was unique, nothing I’ve seen before and represented my Filipino background. This classic Filipino staple came to my mind and It quickly became our signature pastry.

This is my take on a classic Filipino bread called ensaymada. Typically it would be a brioche based bread but I thought it would be fun to put it on a croissant to give it a textural variety. If you’ve followed me for a while, you know crunch is my favorite texture. It was the perfect match!

We top off the freshly baked croissant with a rich French style buttercream, coated lightly with granulated sugar and Gruyère cheese. Typically, it would be topped off with a cheese called queso de bola. Queso de bola is difficult to find and also very expensive in the States. I wanted to use a cheese that would be more accessible, affordable but still had great quality and more balanced flavor that would please all kinds of pallets which is the reason why I chose Gruyère cheese.

There are many ways of eating this pastry. Some people like to eat it room temperature, warmed up so the cheese melts slightly or (my favorite) slightly cold. Each style is a different and unique experience. Next time you visit us, come and grab one of our ensaymada croissant.
