"Did You Know? Your Body Goes Through 5 Stages of Sleep Every Night! 🛌
Understanding your sleep can help you improve it! Here’s a quick breakdown of the 5 stages of sleep your body cycles through:
1️⃣ Stage 1 – Light Sleep
You’re drifting in and out, and can be easily awakened. Muscles relax, and brain activity starts to slow down.
2️⃣ Stage 2 – Deeper Light Sleep
Heart rate and temperature drop. Your body is preparing to enter deep sleep. This stage makes up about 50% of total sleep!
3️⃣ Stage 3 – Deep Sleep (Slow-Wave Sleep)
This is the restorative phase. Tissue repair, muscle growth, and immune support happen here. You’re very hard to wake in this stage!
4️⃣ Stage 4 – Deeper Slow-Wave Sleep
Some scientists group this with Stage 3. It’s the most restorative part of the sleep cycle — crucial for physical recovery and health.
5️⃣ Stage 5 – REM Sleep (Rapid Eye Movement)
This is where dreams happen. Brain activity increases, memory consolidation kicks in, and your body becomes temporarily paralyzed to keep you safe while dreaming.
💤 Your brain cycles through these stages multiple times each night. Disrupted sleep means disrupted cycles — and that impacts your mood, memory, and overall health.
🧠 Sleep isn’t just rest — it’s repair, reset, and recharge. Prioritize it! 🌙"
