Writer Gayle Romasanta teamed up with Dr. Mabalon on the new Larry Itliong children’s book. Stockton raised, these two went to daycare together (and were a comedy duo a few times in 1999)! See how over 20 years of friendship culminated in the first filipino american children’s history book. http://bit.ly/2ybKIlS

Dear friends and family: First, thank you for your overwhelming support of my first books, especially Little Manila Is in the Heart, which is almost in its 5th printing. That book was for our elders and ancestors. My new book project is for the next generation. It is the story I wish I learned as a child: the life story of Larry D. Itliong, Stocktonian, labor organizer, leader of the Delano Grape Strike and co-founder of the United Farm Workers. I am honored and privileged to author it with my longtime friends Gayle Romasanta and Andre Sibayan.

Pre-order it now by clicking the link and supporting our IndieGoGo campaign for this book and for three more books on Filipino American historical figures that will be published by Gayle's new venture, Bridge + Delta, a Stockton-based publishing company which aims to bring Filipino American history books to children. Please support our campaign in any way you can: from $10 to $1k+, or simply by sharing with all your contacts. A portion of the proceeds will benefit FANHS and Little Manila.

Why are we doing it this way, going the independent route and crowdfunding? Because we wanted to bring our history to our next generation with full editorial control. Because we have faith that our community wants and needs these books. Because Filipino American history is American history. I can't wait for my nieces and nephews and godchildren to see themselves in the books they read.

Thank you to everyone who has brought this project to this point, including Johnny Itliong!
