Want a cookie?
One of my first memories is watching my mom pull that same giant mustard yellow bowl out to mix up some tollhouse chocolate chip cookies. We’d wait around for the butter to soften, the oven to heat up, and we’d dump everything together to form what I believed were the best food item that could ever be consumed. My first solo bake was more than 20 years ago when I zested lemons, limes and oranges, set up my first springform pan and ended up with a citrus cheesecake. I was so proud! More importantly, my sweet tooth had grown in completely.
Today I’ve got a family of my own and a full time job, so things are much busier. But once my boys have gone to bed and I have the kitchen to myself, I start working through pounds of butter and flour like they’re going out of style. Pride getting the better of me and my tightening waist band, I figured I shouldn’t keep eating it all on my own, so would you like some?
Custom cakes and sugar cookies, pastry orders for weekend brunches, holiday treats and homemade candy, I’m always looking for the next challenge. Need a cake that looks like Chichen Itza or a football stadium? You got it. A gender reveal cake? I mean gender is a social construct but let’s talk flavors. A spread of croissants, muffins and danishes for a brunch party? I’m on it.
