From inspiration…to crumb coat…to almost there…to the final cake:
One of my favorite parts of this process is taking a customer's inspiration photo (or design explanation) and turning it into the SCC version. Each cake is designed to capture the feeling and overall customer's design vibe but it isn't going to be exactly the same and that's actually the point.
There’s a whole lot that happens between those stages of stacking, filling, crumb coating, chilling, and then bringing it all to life with buttercream. This one was all about soft pink roses, rustic wooden fence, and an ALL BUTTERCREAM drawn horse detail front and center.

Even when toppers are purchased, the details, materials, and food safety still matter in an SCC cake. At the birthday girl's request, I gave it by best "first time ever" effort to create an edible decoration that resembles KPop Demon Hunter ramen with noodles made out of cupcakes, buttercream, modeling chocolate, an edible image and fondant noodles that Derpy the cat definitelylikes!
As always, chocolate bases made for stabilizing firgurines and prevents plastic from touching the cake! All color for this design made using natural, plant-based dyes by PRSM.

I've had increasing requests to show how I make my cupcakes, in particular my Highland Cow Cupcakes. Here is my very unprofessional, slightly chaotic attempt at a tutorial cut from 6:00 minutes to 28 seconds on my buttercream battleground silicone mat. I'll post the final result pictures so you can see all of the tiny horns, ears and snouts which are shaped and created from modeling chocolate and then dusted with cocoa powder. Hopefully the pictures give you a feel for just how long all of these tiny little features take!
