As we begin 2026, we have some bittersweet news to share about some changes happening with The Light House Bakery.
Operating any small business is hard. There are days when you feel filled with gratitude, and there are days when it’s just really really hard. Hard to find a balance between business & family, and hard to justify that your business is “making it”.
After MUCH thought about what is best for our family right now, I have accepted a job opportunity, still doing something I love. I will be working for a large seed company in Salina, as their “Food Service” person, or “Personal Chef”, if you will, with the responsibility of making their employees a fabulous lunch each day.
This is something I have much passion for and am truly excited about! But on the other hand, it does mean that I will only be taking very limited orders from here on out and we will be shifting more of our focus on our lemonade/food trailer. Any orders I’ve already accepted won’t be affected whatsoever!
I am also excited to spend more time with my husband & kids!
You are more than welcome to send me your order requests, and I will let you know if it’s something I can fit into my schedule or not, but there’s a good chance it might not!
If we lived in a world where it was possible to have everything you dreamt of at once, I would totally have opened a bakery by now. But, I have been reminded that God sometimes asks us to surrender things that are important to us, to further His will. So, if I leave you with anything, just know that we feel that this new path, is exactly where God is guiding us.
We can never say thank you enough to everyone who has supported us. We are beyond thankful.
With love & thanks
Shelby, JD and kids 🤍
