These are the easiest and quickest “Cheese Danish” you might ever put together.
Puff pastry, cream cheese, lemon, egg, sugar, cherry or apricot preserves and a milk and powdered sugar drizzle- and that’s it…you’re a baking genius… and yes, they are irresistible while still warm!
The recipe is from John Kanell .
I liked the ones I baked according to the lesser of the recommended time rather than the ones I baked for the longer time, plus the suggested addition of the preserves benefitted the ratio of filling to pastry.
Two didn’t get eaten straightaway and were actually still very good after 3 days!

This plate of deliciousness is “Barely Cooked Broccoli Rabe with Calabrian Chile & Garlic“ from Something From Nothing by … and it is utterly delicious! For the eagle-eyed amongst you, yes those are broccoli florets not broccolini ( cos my grocery store didn’t have any broccolini so I improvised) mostly because I wanted to make this dish. The broccoli is crisp tender, the garlic is present, but not overpowering, the Calabrian chile adds just the right amount of pizazz, and the squeeze of lemon and pecorino cheese are the finishing touches to this masterpiece, elevating a somewhat humble vegetable to fresh new heights! I think you could also eat this cold, as a salad , if there is any left (unlikely, as it’s mouthwateringly good!)
