DONUT POPUP + IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT ✨ Long post alert.
I started Mana Bakery four and a half years ago on a little more than a whim. I had just moved back to the area and was looking for a job. Through a little luck a friend of mine told me about a job at and said I was to go in and ask for Sarah and Josh. I did, and it was through that meeting that I learned that they were not looking to hire a baker, but instead were looking to work with a wholesale baker to provide goods for their shop. They asked if I was interested in starting a wholesale bakery, and if so, they would work with me to help get me started. And thus, Mana was born.
These last few years have been the journey of a lifetime. I never pictured myself as a business owner but I soon realized it was the job I never knew I needed as a person. I have pushed myself beyond what I thought I was capable of, worked harder and longer than I ever have in my life, and through that challenge I have grown as a person and become proud of who I am. I have learned to set boundaries, to say no, and to redefine what I consider success by measuring it intrinsically instead of through extrinsic motivating factors.
It is because of that last part that I am able to arrive at the decision I have today, to close Mana Bakery, and know that it is what I need for myself. Not every business is meant to last. It is not a linear journey of start, expand, success, and happily ever after. It's messier than that. While Mana Bakery and I are two separate entities, at the same time we are not, and so much of who I am and what I want has become wrapped up in this thing. At some point you forget you are your own person. A person with different needs and desires then your business.
Our last wholesale delivery will take place next week. Our Christmas preorders are still live and are the last chance to order from us. In the meantime we are throwing one last popup this Sunday starting at 9:30am . Words can’t express how beyond grateful I am for all of you, the relationships we have built, and your support over the years. I hope you’ll come see us one last time and celebrate Mana Bakery.
