A day early, but September bundles have dropped for my Toni S Luschen members! Keeping the flavors simple and following what the garden hands me...

* Tomato Basil Loaf...so many garden tomatoes and the basil is loving life in the shade of the tomato plants. So much flavor in this loaf!

* Plum-Raspberry Oat Crumb Tart...I was gifted plums from my sister-in-law in Lakeville and the Fall Raspberries are coming in strong (I harvested almost a gallon today 😳)...MN Oats too!

* Rosemary Cornmeal Shortbread...Rosemary is made for sweets and you know I love the Cornmeal from Whole Grain Milling ...Shortbread once again is the perfect place to showcase them

All of these will be available on my September menu. I will drop that tomorrow over on my website...

When you find a little joy in your mailbox...

This little baggie of False Indigo seeds & a note were tucked in our mailbox on Monday morning...this is community

This morning when I was watering the gardens this neighbor was walking by with her pup (Bama) and said the seeds were from her and her yard...this is community

We chatted for a bit, I thanked her for the seeds, connection...this is community

Over the past few months I have thinking a lot about connecting more with our community and how to grow community...tricky for this highly introverted introvert

And, on my mind for more than a few months...wanting to teach some baking classes and what those would look like

Living that jam making life with all the fruits of the season. Plums, Currants, Sour Cherries and more so far...Pears & Fall Raspberries are coming soon.

* There is no retirement party without the treats, right? Was asked by my brother-in-law to bake some treats for his last day...Congratulations Tom!

Summer days on repeat here in Minnesota & Toni S Luschen delivery day!

* Sweet Corn Country Loaf...when the sweet corn arrives, we use it everywhere. This loaf has some butter poached kernels, corn stock and of course some local whole wheat & Rye grains from Whole Grain Milling

* Spanish Rum Torte...putting my own summer twist on this recipe. Two layers of vanilla pound cake filled with a sweet corn pastry cream and summer berry compote

* Georgia Peach Butter Cookies...I couldn't resist a case of Georgia peaches this year so I made a simple jam and filled these buttery triangles. Definitely, Simple, Seasonal & Sweet

I will have all of these available on my August menu plus lots of other Seasonal favorites. Here's to all that August will bring...

Project corner...

There is always something working in this corner of our kitchen. Today it is a second ferment on Kombucha, another batch of sauerkraut, Calendula's steeping & drying, garden herbs drying and a batch of pizza herb salt.

Luckily those are mainly hands off while I work on more jams, CSB prep and getting food ready for our work weeks.

Oh, and a couple cakes went out the door this weekend for some birthday celebrations. Swipe to see something pretty with the request for a little purple...the garden flowers definitely helped!

A little look at my current reading…

I guess I have one thing on my mind these days. I also love learning new things and reading cookbooks. It is preserving the harvest season in our kitchen and I just canned my first two batches of jam this morning. These books are sure to give me lots of ideas and they have already inspired a batch of homemade ginger beer.

I also have a deep love for libraries. We are blocks away from the Highland Park branch of SPPL and I am there on the regular. Of course I requested all of these books, they were all ready for me at the same time and so of course I checked them ALL out (note…I had walked there with my messenger bag which of course couldn’t fit all of these). So, I have all the books, walk out the library doors and this man comes up to me with two of these carrying bags (see next pic). He gives me the bags to use and said he saw me with this stack of books and is wanting to do things that are kind in a world that has so much darkness. KIndness…the action word for peace…

Summer Raspberries are slowly coming into season in our gardens! I've been harvesting daily and getting them right into the freezer.

Raspberry plans...freeze some, jam some, and I need some for a Special Order next week! The freezer fruit inventory is so nice because it allows me to bake for you all through winter with these beautiful berries.

July bundles have dropped! Deliveries happened this morning for my CSB members and I tried to fill them with all things Simple, Seasonal & Sweet...

* Garlic Scape Pesto Loaf...I love that my garlic gives me two harvests and the scapes make my favorite pesto. This loaf has summer sandwich written all over it.

* Early Summer Hazelnut & Buckwheat Financier...I packed so much fruit into these Financiers that some didn't want to come out of the pan. Sour Cherries, Mulberries & Red Currants all from within 2 blocks of our house (thanks to generous neighbors!) fill that early summer fruit fix. Add in those toasted hazelnuts & buckwheat flour from ...yes please

* Sour Cherry IceBox Cookies...had to continue the love for my Sour Cherries...so, so good alongside local Cornmeal too!

All of these items are on my July menu and as always taking special orders for all your summer celebrations!

Hello June...

And, hello to these June bundles that were delivered to my CSB members today!

* Garden Herb Loaf...garden chives, oregano & scallions all showing off in this loaf along with some local Whole Wheat & Rye Flours

* Hungarian Shortbread Tart...when 2 layers of buttery shortbread meet a simple rhubarb jam

* Mint Sugar Cookies...garden mint always finds its way into cookies and these are lovely

All of these will be available on my June menu. Here's to a wonderful month!
