The first Hitchcock film I saw was “Vertigo” and from then on, I was hooked. Here’s my first director map. And yes—there is a Hitchcock cameo. Prints coming soon to the shop.

I’ve had a Faulkner problem for about 30 years, so he was a natural for my next author map. Prints available at my Etsy site soon. If you’d like to discuss why “Light in August” is his best novel, feel free to message me.

Finished off this sign for my upstairs neighbors: The Saint Paul Indoor Farmers’ Market. What a fantastic addition to the neighborhood they are. Glad to be a part of the magic.

Just finished this sprawling mural for Lifestyle Chiropractic & Wellness in Mendota Heights. They’ve let me do two murals in two offices now, which is a lot of trust, so thank you! And yes—that’s the largest brain I’ve ever painted.

Reading post! It’s been a good stretch. I discovered César Aira, who’s a new favorite. Heinrich von Kleist hardly wrote anything, but what he did is fantastic. Buzzati is a reread—so good. Chateaubriand is a joy to read. Starter Villain is funnier than hell. Only downer was Fermor—this being his sole attempt at fiction. Can’t win them all.

Unkillable Bonsai No. 7.3 is done. I’ve worked on this in between daily tasks at the studio over the past few years—usually in ten minute spurts. Today, after painting one particularly mauve square, it felt done.

100 days until opening day at Northland Lodge. That’s where you’ll find us this summer—on Pelican Lake, just outside of Orr, Minnesota. It’s been in my family for 103 years. Summer 104 is going to be the one where my wife Amy, our three kids, Yorkshire terrier Barry, and I (along with a lot of help*) do our best to keep this special place humming. You’ll find this sign just outside the main lodge when you come see us.
So this is what it’s like when the dog catches the mail truck.

*of course you can—let’s talk.
