Disco Donuts Welcome! Disco Donuts is the brainchild of Torben Martinson, age 12. The most important part, however, is that their donuts are awesome.

He started it along with his twin sister, Berit, also age 12 as a way to raise money to fund their crazy desires to spend most of their summer at Norwegian camp. The current incarnation is a for-profit business with a charitable arm that gives 20% of proceeds to the scholarship fund for Skogfjorden, the Norwegian language village.

Disco Donuts is opening shop again after taking a few weeks to deliver donuts to healthcare workers. We're still doing that, but we've now also got dates for the next three Saturdays. We've added a 16-year old sibling officially to the crew as CHO - Chief Health Officer. She makes sure everyone is washing hands excessively in addition to topping donuts and DRIVING for deliveries. We delivered 5 dozen to Children's St. Paul this morning. 5 dozen went to Children's Minneapolis yesterday. Tomorrow 2 1/2 dozen are going to Minnesota Community Care in St. Paul. There's a possible delivery of 4 dozen to Methodist Hospital in St. Louis Park on Thursday.

This is what we are doing to make the world a little big brighter for healthcare workers, who are truly doing miraculous and really, really hard things right now.

I contemplated sharing because Berit and Torben, to whom this little donut business belongs, really don't like attention.

And then I thought about it a little more. Some of the few people I've mentioned it to have wondered how they can help, whether they could contribute to our supplies for this effort. I've told them thank you, but Disco Donuts is doing just fine and we'd appreciate it if they would contribute their funds to other organizations that are struggling.

So, hence, this post. If it speaks to you and you feel compelled to buy us some flour, may I encourage you to donate to an organization that needs help instead? There are entirely too many.

And may I encourage you to share our effort? I'd be lying if I said I didn't hope some of the people in the world who have billions of dollars saw that a couple of 15 year olds are forgoing any profits to instead bring a tiny moment of happiness to people fighting this fight on the front lines and thought about their lives...
