You know what happens this weekend?

Someone is going to open their Cookie Club box and find birthday cake cookies stuffed with white chocolate chips and sprinkles and they are going to make a noise.

Not a polite noise. A real noise.

That's the whole job. That's why I spent years building recipes that are safe enough to actually eat without a second thought, so that the moment you open the box, all you're thinking about is how good this is.

Not "can I have this."
Just: this is mine and it's wonderful.

Cookie Club pickup is this weekend. πŸŽ‚πŸͺ

Apple Valley β€” Sunday

Today in a meeting someone asked us to share something we love doing.

I said decorating cookies and listening to podcasts.

And then someone said they loved that I was wearing a shirt about cookies.

And I had to explain... that I actually have a microbakery.

(I really do just dress like this.)

It's Cookie Club week, and if you've been curious but not sure you want to commit to a monthly subscription, this is your moment. I keep a couple of trial boxes set aside each month for people who want to try it once, or just want to stock up without the recurring order.

Same cookies. Same allergy-safe kitchen. No pressure to commit.

Sending sweetness!

Happy Mindful Monday. 🌸

Friday I mentioned a podcast that stopped me mid-royal-icing.

One in eight Americans is taking medication to remove the desire to eat. Not hunger. The want itself.

I kept thinking about that all weekend. Because so many people I bake for have spent years wanting things they couldn't have safely. That's a specific kind of grief nobody talks about.

That crabapple behind me is not making itself smaller for the neighborhood.

I'm learning I don't have to either.

Wanting things, and having them be safe, might be a little revolutionary. 🌸 What's something you've let yourself want lately? πŸ‘‡

This face is what royal icing does to me.

I've been in the kitchen all morning making royal icing for a graduation order and getting Cookie Club ready for next weekend; headphones on, listening to a podcast about bodies and desire and food and what it means to want things.

Heavy podcast. Light cookies. (It's a balance.)

Here's the thing about my sugar cookies that not everyone knows: they're not available all the time. They show up for Cookie Club subscribers and for special occasions: graduations, celebrations, moments that deserve something made carefully for the people you love.

If you've ever been curious about them, Cookie Club is where to find them. Limited spots, real cookies, and apparently a very philosophical kitchen soundtrack.

Making the flour blend today!

Most people don't know that's a thing. Before the sugar cookies, there's a blend, a specific ratio of flours I've been perfecting for years because it's the only way to get that texture right. The right amount of crisp, crunch, and soft chew. All three. In the same bite.

That's not an accident. That's four years of standing in this kitchen figuring out what "safe" actually tastes like when you refuse to let it be a compromise.

If you've been following along this week, the grocery store aisle, the fish sticks, why I actually started, this is the other half of that story. The why led to the work. The work is still happening today.

Ordering closes tomorrow.

It's therapy week over here.

I've been thinking about protection scripts, the ones that start running before anything has actually gone wrong. The ones that made complete sense once, and just never got the memo that things are different now.

The tricky part is when they keep running in rooms where they no longer apply.

I make cookies for people whose nervous systems have been on high alert around food for a long time. I think about that a lot.

*(Sometimes the most useful thing is just: look around. This isn't the same room.)*

Spring Cookie Boxes are here if you need something sweet in a safe place. 🌸

What's one place you're starting to trust yourself that you couldn't before?

Ordering closes tonight at 10pm.

This week I told you about the grocery store aisle. About the fish sticks. About why I actually started baking.

If any of that landed, if you've stood in that aisle, if you have a kid with one safe brand, if you're the person reading every label at every party just in case, this box was made for you.

The Spring Cookie Box. $18.

Four chocolate chip cookies so soft and sweet. Two pink flower sugar cookies with a the perfect crunch and a smell that makes the whole room feel like a good decision.

Heat-sealed. Safe. Completely.
6 boxes left.

Pickup this weekend, Como Park Friday evening, Apple Valley Sunday morning.

(You don't have to explain why you need them. You just do.) 🌸

You ever cry in a grocery store aisle?

Not a dramatic cry. Just the quiet kind, standing there staring at an empty shelf where the thing used to be.

Ian's fish sticks. Fresh Thyme stopped carrying them. And I know that sounds like a small thing, it's fish sticks, but when your kid has one safe brand, and suddenly it's just... gone? It's not small. It's a Tuesday that just got a lot harder.

(We have one safe bread too. One. I don't let myself think about that shelf going empty.)

I started baking because I lived in that grocery store anxiety for years. Not because I had some charming origin story about loving cookies (I mean I do), but because I knew what it felt like when the options ran out and your kid just wanted something normal.

These spring cookie boxes won't fix the fish stick problem. But they're safe, completely, and they show up when I say they will, made by someone who checks every label like her kid's life depends on it.

Because it does. And yours does too.

🌸 Spring Cookie Boxes are $18 and ready at themindfullarkbakery.com

"Cookies? She's really only selling cookies?"
Yep.

There's a rule in writing: kill your darlings. The things you love most, cut them. Not because they're bad. Because holding onto everything means nothing gets to be great.

I killed mine.

The cinnamon rolls. The animal crackers. The elaborate decorated sets I spent hours on. I loved them. I let them go anyway.

What's left is what I'm actually best at. What you come back for. What I can make with my whole heart, every single time.

And then I put them in the cutest little box I could find.

The Spring Cookie Box, a 5" gift box that feels like an occasion whether you're giving it, receiving it, or quietly keeping it for yourself.

Inside: four chocolate chip cookies so soft they melt before you decide to slow down. Two pink flower sugar cookies with just the right snap, a simply sweet icing, and enough vanilla to make the whole room smell like a good decision.

Heat-sealed. Ready to gift. Ready to freeze. Ready for whoever needs one.

(Everyone needs one. That's not a pitch, that's just spring.)

Orders open today.
Limited run, while supplies last. Link in bio.

Come see what survived the cut. 🌸

What's something you loved that you had to let go of anyway? (Doesn't have to be cookies. But it can be cookies.)
