While we enjoyed our little break to beautiful waterfalls and gorgeous beaches, I am back in the kitchen and ready to bake up some goodies! June 13th was the anniversary of the bakery opening up. It is hard to believe it’s been 2 years already and I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for each one of you. Thank you so much for your support!!
I wanted to do a little back story of how the bakery started since I have so many new followers. I’ll try to keep it short and sweet. In 2015 my older sister, Jessica, was diagnosed with Triple Negative Breast Cancer at the age of 30. There currently is no cure for it but they can slow it down. My sister lost the battle 4 1/2 years later. She fought so hard to be here for her husband and four little kids. She is the strongest woman I know. At her last appointment in Columbus the doctors couldn’t believe she walked into the building because the cancer was in her spinal fluid, brain, lungs, and bone by then. She was a walking miracle until the very end. She lost the battle on June 13, 2019. One of my favorite things to do with her was baking. We would bake all the time together and around Christmas we would get the family together and bake goodies all day for family, friends, neighbors and coworkers. We always talked about maybe opening a bakery but never really took it serious, just tossed the idea around. Then once she passed I lost all joy in baking. I believe the day I decided to open the bakery was the first day since she died that I baked. This bakery is for her and I know she would want to help other women battling cancer as well.
