Here's something for those who work out, or are trying to eat healthy, or who ever likes good food. We lowered the salt content, just tomato sauce, and our sofrito. With pink beans instead of gandules (pigeon peas) because there's more protein, more iron, more vitamin B6, and less sugars. We have our lightly seasoned, slow oven baked chicken thighs cooked at 325 degrees. No skin, no oils added, just the natural juice from our chicken itself. As well as steamed corn. Again just another way you can incorporate sofrito to the daily use of your kitchen no matter your lifestyle! Fuel your body fuel your mind!

Take something you love, & share it with someone who can use it, and begin to use it in their own way, so that they share it with someone. That's one way to spread love. That's one thing we try to do here. I want to take something that's been a part of my life, and give it to you. Show you that you too can have this ability to provide excellent food for ppl you care about. Take it, be curious, and play with it. Explore, and show ppl what you can do!

The island has had to weather a hurricane, a political crisis and earthquakes, but those crises did not lead to the widespread unemployment caused by the response to the coronavirus pandemic.

Just like mom's cooking, because it's mom's recipe. We're keeping the tradition alive and we also try to take it to newer and outer levels. Keep your eyes peeled for more. Message us if you need some sofrito, and where and how you can get it.

Don't forget, aside from rice you can use sofrito as a marinade for your meats by adding some olive oil. In this case we used a rosemary olive oil for some chicken. Sear both sides skin side down first. Then pop those babies in the oven.

A little about us...

As a Puerto Rican from Milwaukee’s south side, sofrito has been a key component in my life. All our home cooked dishes included sofrito; from the simplest of dishes like arroz con gandules and asopao de pollo to more complex techniques like mofongo, pernil, and pasteles. There are many possibilities when incorporating this gem. I cook with my heart and now I can share a piece of that with you.

“Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.” - Bruce Lee

We started Samuelito’s Sofrito as a way to share my culture with you and give back to vital organizations. Our mission is simple; enhancing your dishes to support missions. A percentage of our profits will be contributed monthly to an organization of our choice who embodies our values and helps our communities.

Our ingredients are 100% locally sourced. We believe in community and want to contribute to their sustainability. We feel this is the best way for economic growth within our city. We select carefully from our local producers to bring quality to your kitchen.
