I picked up a loaf of Grande Italian last week while I was visiting my family in Saginaw. Brought that bad boy back to Birmingham, Alabama, and tonight, it's giant panini sandwiches with homemade pesto from my basil plant.

Salad Season is Here!!!!
Garlic-Herb Croutons: from Day Old Napolitano Breads
2 1/2 sticks butter
1/2 t. salt
1 T. dried granules of garlic
1/2 t. cayenne pepper
1 loaf of Napolitano white bread cut into 3/4 to 1 inch cubes remove crust
2 t. dried basil

Preheat oven to 225 Degrees. Melt butter and stir in the garlic granules, basil, salt and cayenne. In large mixing bowl put cubes; add butter mixture & toss quickly to coat cubes evenly. Spread cubes on baking sheet and bake until they are golden brown on the outside and crisp throughout-about 1 hour. Inside should be completely dry and crisp. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
