Effective Jan 1, 2023 with peace and clarity I’ve made the decision to close Only Oatmeal (OO) permanently. The business was established by me in 2003 when I was a 24-year-old wife and mother of two small children. Only Oatmeal gave me a sense of purpose, something to dream about and reach towards outside the everyday hard life of raising a family. Only Oatmeal is complete, it has served its purpose and all signs lead to letting go.
Only Oatmeal has never been my sense of identity or a source of income for my family, which makes letting go much easier. Maintaining OO as an asset rather than allowing it to become a liability is my higher priority as I understand OO’s value, and destiny. Perhaps, one day I will sell, license, or ideally franchise the company. Until then it’s a sweet goodbye and thank you for all your love and support!
I’ll be selling all shop equipment and fixtures to remain in place contact WM for lease options.
Again, thank you Tacoma and I’ll see ya around town—but, unfortunately, I won’t have cookies for you (please don’t ask, I’m not a baker, haha). But I do plan to continue serving up the best black owned businesses Tacoma has to offer through the .business.market. Or, you can follow me … but please keep in mind, I’m not for everyone! I’m hella transparent and I love sharing. 🤩
The shop will be closed New Years Eve and New Years Day 🧡
P.S. The only hard part of this process was breaking the news to my employees. I just reached perfection with staffing, and two employees in particular—my Lead Baker, who has been with me for the past year and a half, and my fantastic FOH Service/Baker—were extremely hard to let go. They are both hardworking, extremely reliable, and team players. Contact me if you’re looking to hire!
