Prairie Ridge Farm & Hearth Welcome to Prairie Ridge Farm & Hearth. We are an Iowan Family owned business that makes local bread, bake items, aronia syrup, crafts, and much more.

Our farm currently produces chestnuts and aronia berries. I’m Sara Gilbert, a small-batch baker and homesteader living outside Runnells and Prairie City, Iowa. My love for sourdough began over 10 years ago and grew from a desire to feed my family wholesome, from-scratch foods. On our family farm, where we grow chestnuts and aronia berries, I create sourdough bread, sticky pecan caramel rolls, aronia-elderberry syrup, and handmade goods inspired by nature, tradition, and simple living. I am embracing the family tradition of baking from scratch inspired by my husband’s grandma, Mildred Gilbert and my grandma, Mildred Folsom. Both grandmas were known throughout their respective communities for their baking craft and I am proud to continue this time-honored tradition.

-mini pies (strawberry/peach & blueberry, 1 mini pies for $3)
-fresh sourdough bread ($10 a loaf)
