Today, we honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. On this Memorial Day, we extend our deepest gratitude to all Veterans and their families for their service, courage, and dedication. 🇺🇸

A special thank you to Linda Stewart, the VFW, and the Events Committee for putting together such a meaningful and beautiful Memorial Day service. The wonderful turnout from our community truly showed the respect and appreciation we all share for those who served and sacrificed for our freedom.

May we never forget those who gave everything for our nation. ❤️🤍💙

With sadness, we announce the passing of Jack Ryder, a 53-year resident and founder of our small city. Police responded to his home this morning shortly after his passing. Jack had been on home hospice care recently before his passing. Jack Ryder was an original Alderman for Roman Forest in 1975 when the city was formed. He served as a councilman in the 80s and as Mayor in 1990.

“I remember when I first became Chief 14 years ago, I got two visits the same day, just hours apart,” said Chief Stephen Carlisle. “One former mayor told me the key to success was always stationing an officer at the city park at the main entrance. A few hours later, another former mayor came in and told me the best advice he could give was to never have an officer sitting at the city park at the main entrance. One of them was Jack Ryder… and I’m still not sure if he was giving advice or just canceling out the other guy.”

Rest easy, Mayor/Founder Jack Ryder; we’ll take it from here…
