It's February, and a great time for us to spread the love! It's been a long year for all of us and for our community, and I've been looking to find a tangible way to give back. A girl can only leave messages with the exhausted interns at Darin Lahood's office a finite amount of times!
So this month, a percentage of ALL sales will be donated to Midwest Immigration Bond Fund. This is an organization dedicated to releasing people from ICE custody. Here are the facts- while people are often granted bond in immigration court, many people are unable to afford to pay those funds. This leads to prolonged detention in substandard conditions and inevitably worse outcomes in immigration cases that can otherwise be successful. The MIBF is a foundation that gives REAL results- the difference between keeping families together versus in detention centers. It is also a revolving fund, which means when a case is finished, that bond money is returned to the mission and can be used to bring another person home.
