As some of you may have noticed, I've been pretty quiet here the past few months. After a long, and what felt like a never-ending winter, I have come to the decision that I am going to take a little break from The Sweetery. I will not be at the Rockford City Market this summer and will not be taking any new orders.
This was a very tough decision, because these last 8 years have been AMAZING! I appreciate everyone that has visited us at the Rockford City Market, ordered cupcakes or trusted us to provide the sweets for your wedding day!
Throwing myself into large-scale baking for our first market season was such a fantastic whirlwind. That year, I also married the love of my life and business partner, Joe. We felt nothing but love and encouragement with every growing season of the market, and Friday nights were the nights to which I most looked forward.
There are so many good memories! I got to witness our friends Heather and Steve propose with one of our cupcakes! I met so many wonderful brides and grooms! I reconnected with and met so many regulars with whom I chatted at almost every market!
Putting together each and every one of my weddings by myself was such a joy! I took my time and really enjoyed setting up the sweet memories. Joey even got to come to a few, and sweet baby Sean came along the full season before he was born.
I want to give a huge thank you to all the vendors in the Rockford wedding industry... from the sweetest wedding planners who are always so much fun to work with to the photographers who send me breathtaking photos of my sweets after the wedding, and the florists who always know what to leave to tie the sweets into the rest of the reception β those flowers always add that extra spark to the beautiful natural sweets β and to my fellow bakers whom I am happily cheering on! It's a beautiful little family of talent! β¨
With all that being said, I will truly miss catering weddings and my Friday nights at the City Market. This will not be the last you see me, though. Once our sweet little Sean is in kindergarten in a couple of years, I will be back! Hopefully I will have an even broader knowledge of baking and making sweet treats!
I hope to run into everyone at the market! I am looking forward to coming with my little family and finally getting to enjoy the other side of the market. We will greet and support all of our market neighbors, especially my beautiful mother in law at The Tiny Bird Boutique, the best tye dye in town!
Love your sweet little baker,
Annie π€β¨
