BAKING FOR HOPE & A CURE 🎗️
At Blubird Bakeshop we bake to raise money for medical research for rare diseases, to send baked goods to service men and women in the military and to take my mind off my pain from my rare abdominal vascular compression and motility disorders. This all landed me in the hospital and eventually needing a feeding tube for nutrition. We also learned that I have a form of Dysautonomia called POTS which results from Autonomic dysfunction along with Hypermobility Ehlers Danlos Syndrome (hEDS). Fast forward to early 2021 when I learned I have some rare abdominal vascular compressions and . I had to travel to Germany last August for a 6 1/2 hr open surgery with a world renowned vascular surgeon to fix three of my vascular compressions: Median Arcuate Ligament Syndrom (MALS), Nutcracker Syndrome (NCS) and Superior Mesenteric Artery Syndrome (SMAS). I'm no longer able to play sports and be as active as I used to be so I focused on using my creativity to hone in my baking skills. I have met so many other vascular compression warriors along my journey, who have also had big surgeries and a hard fight like I've had, so I'm working hard to raise awareness for these rare conditions.
