Luz decided to take this on and so started A Crafty Baker.

Bruce & Luz owners of A Crafty Baker LLC started their business in October 2009, with their first paying customer. They had been taking cake decorating classes since March 2009, and had made cakes for class assignments. With so many cakes being made for class instead of throwing them away they bought them to work for co-workers and friends to enjoy. This practice became welcomed and anticipated; p

eople were asking what you are going to bring in next. They loved the cakes and thought the decorations were wonderful. Eventually Luz was asked if she could make a cake for one of her co-workers daughters 16th birthday and she offered to pay. Her co-worker’s daughter was familiar with custom cakes from shows like The Cake Boss and from prior purchases. Bruce & Luz decided that with the sale of the first cake that 5% of the sale on every cake sold would be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. From Oct 2009 thru Dec 2009 A Crafty Baker sold a grand total of four cakes with a donation of $50 to St. Jude’s. In 2010 A Crafty Baker’s business increased from less than 2 cakes per month to 4 cakes per month and made a donation of $ 200 to St’ Jude’s. A Crafty Baker also donated cakes to fund raisers in 2010; the first was for the Earthquake victims in Haiti. The cake was raffled off and brought in $300 for the relief fund. The second cake donated was for the Pakistan relief efforts, the cake donated was part of a bake sale which brought in a total of $777. En A Crafty Baker hablamos Espaṅol

What a day! I have to bring this cake to work for a bridal shower and my car broke, tried to call Bruce and his phone was off. Thank god to a coworker that lives close, I finally made it to work in time for the shower.
