The Story behind Suzanne’s Swiss Bakery:
One of the things I missed when I immigrated to America in 2008 was the crunchiness of Swiss breads. This was the starting point for me to bake my own Zopf breads in my new found home in Ottumwa Iowa. Since 2011 I have been privileged to make much of Switzerland at the Annual International Festival in Ottumwa IA and the World Cultures Festival in the Quad C

ities with my baked goods and the support of prominent Swiss companies like Ricola, Emmi Cheeses, Frey Chocolates, Victorinox etc. In 2014 I decided to establish my bakery out of my home in Ottumwa until I moved to Rock Island IL in the fall of 2015. I continue to bake joyfully and pursue new opportunities here in the Quad Cities.

2021/2022 In April 2021 I decided to step away from the Freighthouse Farmers' Market and take a break and take time to reflect. In 2022 I started a Fundraiser Bake Sale because I would like to own a small food truck. For this reason I was offering some baked goods at my husbands Antique Store in Milan IL (Olde Barn Vintage, Antiques and Things). In late August 2022 we moved our store from Milan to Moline and so I made a good decision to take part in the QC Farmers' Market at Schwiebert Park in Rock Island. During the winter time I am there every Saturday from 10 am to 1 pm and now that the office season has started, I continue to sell joyfully every Saturday from 8 am to 12 pm. Please be on the lookout for weekly posts I make.

At first, my husband didn’t want to try these—he assumed they’d be too hard, stick to his teeth, and take forever to clean off. But after finally sampling one last night, he was pleasantly surprised. This morning, with a sparkle in his eyes, he said they’re amazing. He went on to say they’re gentle on the tongue, enjoyable to eat, and best of all, they don’t stick to his teeth at all 😬👍
