The Catawba Catfish Club has some importatnt news to announce.
As you all know the Catawba Catfish Club was founded in 2006 by Marty Green and Jeff Green,we started out Catfishing tournaments with the old Carolina Catmen Trail and the Teds Hunting and Fishing series on Lake Wylie in 2003,we really enjoyed fishing tournaments and decided to form our own series when the Carolina Catmen series kinda fell off the map with low attendance,we started out as a small unnamed group of guys getting together in 2004 once a month for some small tournaments and mostly bragging rights for Catfish. In 2006 we decided to give it a name and see where we could take it with crowds starting to grow at our monthly Wateree tournaments…Over the next 10 years the Catawba Catish Club has grown each year into the biggest Catfish Trail in the Southeast and being an affiliate club of the Cabelas King Kat Tournament Trail.
An awful lot lot of hard work, advertising, great sponsors and great anglers made the club what it is today.
With all that being said we have decided after 10 years it is time for Us {Marty and Jeff} to step away from running the series,we both have a lot going on right now and cant put in the time to do 9 tournaments a year like we have been doing the past 10 years, its hard to commit to dates that far in advance with some of the things going on.
We have had 2 close friends and great anglers approach us about taking over trail and we have agreed to let them step in and run things from here on out..So after the May 7th tournament on Lake Wylie, the 2015/2016 season finale we will be turning the trail over to Brian Snipes and Josh Coggins, they both are really excited and pumped up about this, they have promised to try and step and not let things skip a beat..They will be taking a survey and talking with the anglers about things and see how every one feels about the state of the club and the direction it will continue on.They will be in touch with everyone soon and making announcements, updating the website etc.
It is with a lot of mixed emotions that we make this announcement,The Catawba Catfish Club has surely came a long way in 10 years and we have made many, many great friends and met a lot of wonderful folks whether it be at tournaments,at meetings,on Facebook or Catfish Forums.
We are not giving up fishing or Catfish Tournaments,we will still fish quite a few but it will be as participants and not as Organizers/Participants,we are gonna get back to the fun less work side of it and not be obligated to dates once schedules come out.
We have truly enjoyed ourselves over the last 10 years other than just a couple of headaches that has arisen here and there…We can only hope that We have been as good to Catfishing Tournaments and evolving and growing the sport as it has been to US..Catfishing for Trophy Blues and Flatheads is addictive,it becomes a passion and an obsession just wondering what that next big bite might be.
We appreciate all the support from our Sponsors and Anglers for the last 10 years,we hope that you all will give Brian and Josh a chance to continue the tradition of THE CATAWBA CATFISH CLUB TOURNAMENT TRAIL.
Tightlines,
Marty Green and Jeff Green
