I have always loved to bake, and create my own custom masterpieces, but just never seemed to have the time to devote to doing just one thing at a time. In June of 2012, I ended up falling and becoming severely injured. The life I once knew, came to a crashing halt, and I needed to find something I could do in my spare time to take my mind off of the pain I was in. I began playing around with diffe
rent cake styles, and learned how to make buttercream cakes first. From there, I wanted to become even better, and to learn a new skill. I began to watch Cake Boss all the time, and learned from how they were making their cakes and sculptures. As far as fondant cakes go, I am totally self taught. Making cakes became my go to as a form of rehabilitation, as well as something that I loved to do. It is the only thing that can make me forget just how bad my pain really is. I live every single day with a chronic pain condition known as Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) and a genetic connective tissue disease known as Ehler's Danlos Syndrome (EDS). Making cakes is my happy place, and when I am doing it, I can't help but smile and be thankful I was given this skill. My skills have only further developed, and I cannot wait to see what else I master in the days to come. There is nothing I am not willing to try at least once. If there is one thing I have learned, it's to never give up, and to always work toward what it is you want.
