Hello everyone!
For those who don’t know me—and to all of you who have been with me from the start I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and share a piece of my heart. Exactly one year ago, I started my little business, Heartfelt & Homemade, and I never could have imagined just how much it would completely change my life.
My name is Kristy. Baking has always been my passion, but over this past year, this business has become so much more than a bakery—it truly gave me my life back.
I live with NF2 (Neurofibromatosis Type 2), a condition that causes tumors to grow on nerves. Over time, it has taken away my hearing completely, meaning I am newly deaf. It has also taken most of my voice, and left me navigating daily life with facial palsy, balance issues, and neuropathy.
When the world went quiet and my body changed so drastically, it was incredibly hard. But then, there was baking.
When I am in the kitchen turning out fresh goodies, I am not a patient—I am a creator. Baking doesn’t care that I can't hear the oven timer or that my balance is a little off; it only cares about love, patience, and sweet details. Heartfelt & Homemade gave me a beautiful purpose, a way to connect, and a joy that NF2 couldn't touch. Every single treat that leaves my kitchen really is made from the bottom of my heart.
Right now, my health journey is in a tough chapter. I am currently doing chemotherapy, and I will be starting radiation this coming September. Because my body needs time to fight and heal, my schedule has to be a little flexible. My main focus right now is keeping my self-serve bakery stand right here at my house in Dover fully stocked each weekend. I try my absolute hardest to open every weekend, but I do take some weekends off depending on my health.
Looking to the future, I have big plans to open a stand in Rochester! But for right now, my focus is staying close to home, taking care of myself, and keeping the Dover stand full of goodies for you all.
