New Year, New Me!

We are now *checks notes* going to take the Test Kitchen seriously and show you guys nothing but the behind the scenes test recipes with class and dignity! No more jokes! No more attempts at Coka Cola and tilapia flavored caramel corn!

Nah. I’m kidding. The boss was looking, but I put a travel lock on the zipper door to the Mom Cave. Pretty sure she fell asleep out there. Y’all wanna try some of this caramel corn? Don’t worry. It’s supposed to smell like that.

Slinging you the freshest and tastiest of treats for you to shovel into your face holes without the added temptation of me adding anymore “secret ingredients.” Personally I think the pork chop petit fours would’ve been a smash with the holiday season coming up, but I digress. The Boss got to cut loose for once. Camille Jane spent her birthday making sure we stayed alive. Like always. She took the weird gangly guy out for a concert at some point too. Pretty sure we stopped letting him go outside and be people, but ok? Jokes and/or realism aside, happy birthday to the baddest boss babe there is. You’re our leader, our inspiration, our support, and our goal. May the wind be at your back, may your drinks be ever chilled, and may your husband be less of a goon. I promise to not make bbq turkey cupcakes for the 4th of July.

The boss at Gingersnap Bake Shop makes cool stuff. She said something about a market event this weekend for LYL Small Business Spring Expo, but I have to stay home because I “tried to convince the neighbor that the pork broth truffles were vegan friendly.” What does that even mean? Anyway. Go check it out. She’ll bring the good stuff. Gives me time to “clean up my mess and think about what I did.” Ugh. Being a grownup is the worst.

Remember to let your cinnamon rolls proof before putting them in the oven. It give them a light, fluffy, pillowy texture that emphasizes the cinnamon and brown sugar flavors. I did not remember to do that, so my kids can just shut up and eat them.

Fire just ONE turkey out of a cannon, and suddenly you’re facing felony charges. How was I supposed to know it was supposed to be thawed out first? Forgive me for not knowing the laws of thermodynamics. Gingersnap Bake Shop will still be here to take care of you throughout the holidays while I get the “legal mess I’ve caused” sorted out. Hey look! Cats!
