I just sent this cake off to Blizzard for the talented creators of Hearthstone Battlegrounds! This cake features their character, AFK with a small cameo from Mr. Bigglesworth the cat. This is a chocolate cake layered with espresso frosting. Once again, all the decorations are completely edible, hand-sculpted from fondant.

Today, we delivered these teacher appreciation cakes to a couple of fantastic, hard working educators! These are chocolate cakes layered with an espresso frosting. Everything on the cake is 100% edible, sculpted from fondant and accented with a white chocolate "glue" spill.

These Nightmare Before Christmas themed cupcakes were served at a birthday party for a fun a wild group of kids! These cupcakes were a classic: vanilla cake with vanilla frosting.

I had a lot of fun creating this Nightmare before Christmas themed cake. It was a pumpkin spice cake layered with vanilla buttercream. Everything (sans the lights) was edible including the candy Oogie Boogie moon and the iconic swirled hill (which was made from rice crispy treats).

This dragon cake was a chocolate cake filled with a rich orange chocolate buttercream frosting. This also came with a special request where, the treasure chest was designed to have a fun surprise inside. When the "Happy Birthday" sign was pulled out, a roll of money came with it! Each year, I like to trick my kids on April fools with a funny tasty-fake. The last one was a huge success where, the cake was a sandwich and the sandwich was a cake! The "grilled cheese" was actually pound cake with vanilla buttercream frosting. The "soup" was a strawberry smoothie. And the "cake" was a BLT sandwich frosted with mustard and mayo. I broke their little minds. lol!

It all began when a mother and a stubborn child went head to head...
All my life I have loved sugary treats. I was the kid who would wake up early on Easter morning and eat all the candy from her basket before everyone else woke up. (True story!) But my mother, not being a huge sweets fan, would scarcely keep any candies or cookies in the house at all. In fact, aside from some baking chocolate, (which yes, I ate that too) the house was empty of any sugary treats at all. At the end of the day it came down to a simple choice: either go without any treats or learn how to make them myself. Well, my sweet-tooth was not going away any time soon so I set to work. Late at night, after everyone else had gone to bed, I would sneak into my parents’ kitchen and begin to bake cookies, cakes, and more; testing out baking techniques and enjoying the sweet reward in the end.
Fast forward to my adult years. I had given birth to a wonderful beautiful baby boy, my son Andy. The special thing about Andy is: he is the largest source of renewable energy you’ll ever find! He could spend all day running around the house, launching himself off of furniture, and never once sit down to eat anything and refuel. Desperate to get my kid to slow down and eat at least a few bites of his lunch, I decided to try making his meals a bit more fun. So I started to make bentos: adorable little lunches that looked like characters. And much to my surprise, it worked! The artistic lunches caught his attention and, soon enough, he started to finally eat his food!
This is how Tasty Spoon’s Bakery truly began.
Pretty soon, all the food I made started to have an artistic flair. Sandwiches, cookies, muffins, and soon enough cakes. At the same time in my life, my love for painting began to grow as well. Before I knew it, my love for making creative food and my love for art melded together into one amazing new love: decorative bakes!
After much support and encouragement from all my family and friends, I finally decided to take the plunge and start up Tasty Spoon’s Bakery. It’s a place where people can order cakes and cookies that go beyond the norm and capture the artistic fun and beauty that I aim to create in every one of my baked goods. These are cakes made from someone who has a true passion for food and art and most importantly the family and friends we share them with.
So the next time you need a sweet treat for a special occasion, please consider Tasty Spoon’s Bakery and turn your special event into one your friends and family will never forget!
...or be like my younger self and enjoy the cake and cookies all by yourself before everyone else wakes up. ;)
